 We will be having our first math test this week. You can help at home by reviewing the math vocabulary words: fact, multiple, prime composite, and multiplication comparison.

Reading Update

 Last week, we discussed nonfiction text features. Ask your child about Table of Contents, Photo Captions, and first and second-hand accounts.  

Word Study Update

New lists today. Please practice words daily. 

Writing Update

Paragraph of the Week went well last week. We have a topic beginning Monday, My Best Present. This will be an independent activity that will be graded with a 4 point rubric.

September 18-September 22

Friday: No school for students!

 Our Content areas will switch this week. Ms. Shifflett will travel and teach Mrs. Elsie's Class, Mrs. Elsie will travel and teach Mrs. Canalichio's class, and Mrs. Canalichio will teach Ms. Shifflett's class. Remember, the teachers are traveling, not the students!

Also, we have had our first round of sick students. Please remember, for the well-being of the class, make sure your child is fever free (without medication) and has not vomited in twenty-four hours before returning to school. 

Reading Update

 We are building our reading stamina daily and working on choosing just right fit books. Teachers are hoping to begin conferencing with individual students. 

Word Study Update

Lists will be tested this Thursday, September 21st. Please practice words daily.

September 4-September 8 A Peek at our Week!

We would like to thank all of you that have taken time out of your busy schedules to meet with us. If you have not yet had a listening conference with your child's teacher, please set up a time to do so!

Reading Update

We will begin using our series, Making Meaning, this week. We are looking forward to introducing Independent Reading, or IDR to our students. We are also focusing on making good book choices. 

Word Study Update

This will be our second week focusing on Homophones. Please help your child at home practice their flashcards so they know what those words mean and how they are spelled!
